Michael Biggins Concert
Saturday 25th June 2022
We look forward to welcoming Michael, an award winning pianist and accordionist from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. In 2021, Michael became the first ever pianist to win the coveted BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year award. Based in Glasgow, he graduated at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and has developed a unique approach to traditional music on the piano, drawing influence from Classical music and his own traditional roots in Northumbria. In performing at St Mary's as part of our Concert Series, Michael will be joined on stage by Scott Turnbull on guitar and Callum Younger on percussion.
Support for "Walking With"
Many of us were moved and inspired by the stories Gwyn McKenzie told us when she recently visited St Mary's. We continue to support the work of 'Walking With' through sharing the food and toiletries you donate. At the moment, there is a particular need for women's clothing and especially for any items that would appeal to younger women. If you have anything lurking in your wardrobe - perhaps something that no longer fits or was an impulse purchase that doesn't quite suit - that you could donate, it would be greatly appreciated. Please place in the additional box in the vestibule beside the food collection box. There's also currently a need for sugar, coffee, basmati rice, toilet roll, toothpaste and washing powder, so donations of these items would also be very welcome.
Funeral of Jean Goudie RIP Tuesday 14th June 10am

All are welcome to St Mary's for the funeral of Jean Goudie at 10am. Family only please at Tynemouth Crem at 11.15am.
St Mary’s 100 Club 2022/23
The sun is shining, St Mary’s is looking good and with muted excitement awaiting the start of the grounds redevelopment and appointment of a new Vicar. Somewhat less exciting is the start of a new 100 Club year. Last year the 100 Club raised £1370 for church funds which went mainly towards the costs of cleaning the church hall. Thank you to everyone who participated. It does help and is appreciated. St Mary’s will be delighted if you will join or re join the scheme.
For £25 a year you are entered into twelve monthly draws with the chance of winning £50, £30 and £20 or in December £100, £50 or £30. To save disappointment perhaps it is better to consider it a donation and enjoy the surprise if you win! For details on how to join, please either contact Sarah in the office, or myself.
On a happy note, congratulations to our June winners!
£50 John Charlton
£30 Carol Lewis
£20 Ben Jarvis

Visits to parishioners who are no longer able to attend Church

With the easing of visitor restrictions in some of the local care homes a number of us are able to visit residents who used to attend St Mary’s and still want to be kept up to date with news from church and also sometimes receive communion. This week Betty Humble, Kathleen Dales and Janice Hudson have been visited in Eothan Home and wish to be remembered to their old friends at church. Next week I plan to visit Shirley Teasdale in Eastbourne House and also Sheilah Young in her own home to take them communion as I have started to do once a month when possible. If any of you would like to visit to chat with anyone please speak with me and I can give you details of how to book in if required.
