Advent and Christmas Services

There is a lot happening at St Mary's on the runup to Christmas. Click the button below for a (hopefully) full and accurate list...

It would be great to have as many as possible to sing some carols at Eastbourne House on the 18th at 11.00am and the Crab and Waltzer at 10.00am on Christmas Eve. Also, if anyone could help with refreshments for the Advent Reflection and Eucharist on 20th December, please speak to Nigel or Claire.

Nigel's Installation as Canon

The bus will leave St Mary's at 3pm and return around 6.30pm, cost £10 per head. There are still places available on the bus if you would like to join the trip.

Eco tip of the week

Strive to stay up to date on important environmental issues that impact us now and will affect future generations. We need help to do this so we can take action.

Please sign the letter using the link below, asking the government to ensure that public broadcasters are meeting their legal requirements and reporting all the facts about the climate crisis.

On 27th November, 1,200 UK leaders from politics, business, faith and culture were briefed in Westminster by 8 prominent scientists. The majority of people have heard nothing about this important event. Hence the letter request.

Children's Society

Please consider taking a collecting candle during Advent to help vulnerable children. These can be returned to the Christingle Service at 4pm on December 14th (or any other time over the Christmas period).

Many thanks Sue and Rick

Advent Reflections

Each Thursday during Advent there will be a joint reflection with St Peter Monkseaton and St Paul Whitley Bay. The next reflection is at St Peter's Monkseaton on Thursday 11th December at 7.30pm.

The Advent Wreath

Mary Cooper is inviting you to join a meditation she is presenting to the

Godly Play Network in the North East on Tuesday December 12th @7.30pm.

Bring a piece of evergreen to contribute if you wish.

Come and join the Prophets, The Holy Family, the Shepherds and Angels and Magi as they journey towards the Mystery of Christmas.

Christmas Fair

A massive thank you to all who contributed to a very successful and enjoyable Christmas Fair last weekend. The proceeds are still being counted, but are in excess of £2000.

Christmas Cards

This year we will not be delivering cards to every house in the parish. Instead, Christmas greetings and information about our services will be available shortly on our website and other social media sites.

We will produce a card in-house for delivery to those who do not have Email access or who are housebound etc. If you know of anyone who would appreciate a Church card, please get in touch with Carole Lax (celax01@gmail.com) who is compiling a list.

Finally there will be a board in Church where individual cards to the whole congregation will be displayed.

Church Windows Update

We are meeting with the contractor on 8th December and will update as soon as we have more information.

You can contribute by:

- cheque payable to "St Mary's Monkseaton" or cash (envelopes in church, with Gift Aid slips, into the wall-safe)

- by bank transfer to: Sort Code: 403418, Account: 04502086 Please give your surname as the 'reference'.

Please also email office@stmarysmonkseaton.org.uk if you are able to Gift Aid your donation
