If you missed last week's service, or can't make this Sunday, you can catch up online.

Services: Advent Sunday

  • 8.00am Holy Communion

  • 10.00am Holy Communion

  • 4.00pm Advent Carol Service (This service will be streamed and available on our YouTube channel)

Nigel's Installation as Canon

We are in the process of organising a bus to travel between St Mary’s and the Cathedral next Saturday.  We will contact all those who have shown interest with times and cost as soon as we have them confirmed.

If anyone else would like to join the trip, then please see Mike.

Eco tip of the week

Try and keep the supply chain of goods and food you buy, as short as possible, to aid long term sustainability.

Supporting local businesses is investing in the local economy and keeps the important human contact in the community, elements lost with online shopping.

Packaging can be reduced when the supply chain is shorter. Enormous quantities of plastic are used in the transportation of foods and goods, often increased further with online returns.

Reduced travel distance of the goods in the shorter supply chain means fewer emissions from transport vehicles. Commercial shipping not only adds to CO2 emissions but increases marine pollution and disrupts ocean ecosystems.

Again, think local where possible.

If you would like to do some Christmas shopping and support local producers, check out the Christmas Fair at St. Mary's this Saturday. Remember to bring your own shopping bags and if you can walk here, that would keep your carbon footprint even lower.

Children's Society

Please consider taking a collecting candle during Advent to help vulnerable children. These can be returned to the Christingle Service at 4pm on December 14th (or any other time over the Christmas period).

Many thanks Sue and Rick

Advent Reflections

Each Thursday during Advent there will be a joint reflection with St Peter Monkseaton and St Paul Whitley Bay. The next reflection is at St Paul's Whitley Bay on Thursday 4th December at 7.30pm.

Mary Weir RIP

The funeral of the late Mary Weir will be held in church at midday on Friday 5th December. All are welcome.

Christmas Fair

Christmas Fair this Saturday!

Saturday 29th November, 10am to 3pm

Loads of stalls to find ideal Christmas gifts and a visit from Santa.

£2 entry (kids free)

Christmas Cards

This year we will not be delivering cards to every house in the parish. Instead, Christmas greetings and information about our services will be available shortly on our website and other social media sites.

We will produce a card in-house for delivery to those who do not have Email access or who are housebound etc. If you know of anyone who would appreciate a Church card, please get in touch with Carole Lax (celax01@gmail.com) who is compiling a list.

Finally there will be a board in Church where individual cards to the whole congregation will be displayed.

The Friends of Red House Ramble’s Foodbank Appeal

Every year we collect advent calendars, new children's toys, and adult's toiletries, warm hats and gloves.

Please donate if you can:

Advent Calendars by 23rd November for delivery in time for Advent.

Gifts by 7th December.

I’ll collect at the 10am service or Advent Service.

If you leave them in church would you clearly mark with FoRHR.

Thank you for your generosity.
