  • 8am Holy Communion

  • 10.00am Holy Communion

  • 4pm Choral Evensong

Prayer Time

We meet for prayer on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning. You would be very welcome to join us and we would be delighted to help you develop your prayer life. If you have anything you would like us to be praying for in morning prayer, then please let either Nigel or Claire know.

Plea from Charity shops.

Charity shops wish people would clear out their children’s (grandchildren's) old toys in the lead-up to Christmas — rather than after.

They see parents in the days before Christmas, looking for toys for their little ones, because they are strapped for cash. There’s very rarely anything in just before — but they get inundated with toys in the days after.

Also good, warm coats, scarves and gloves, pretty dresses and sweaters.

Thanks Cheryl

Bible Study

Tucked away in the weekly notes, at 7.30p.m. on a Thursday, you will usually find mentioned the St. Mary's bible study group.

Our basic premise is that we are not very confident "spreading the word" and sharing our faith. The Bible is the written record of our predecessors' endeavours to do the same thing, struggling to understand the world around them and how it relates to its creator.

We read the Bible and then discuss what we learn from it and how it relates to our individual faith, our current world, as well as exploring the environment and audience from the time it was written.

It is surprising how often we find the same topics arising then as now including poverty, strife, revenge, love, sacrifice and courage.

We also learn to cope with differences in our understanding, in the match or mismatch of our reading and the influence of our own experience.

We are very much all in the same boat!

Toddlers

Toddlers is a thriving part of St Mary's and is evolving with a new 'drop in' approach. We have a group of wonderful dedicated volunteers but there is always room for new volunteers. It is not an Onerous task, it is simply being present with parents and their little ones, being a friendly face and offering help where it is needed to hand out food and toys. There is no physical child care involved, it is the parents who look after their own children. Have a chat to one our current volunteers or to Nigel or Claire to get an idea of what's involved. The offer of once a half term would be very gratefully received.

Volunteering is subject to a DBS check and basic safeguarding training.

'How to Godly Play' Coaching

2 day coaching course to be held at St Mary's Monkseaton:

Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd November from 9.30am-4.30pm each day

N.B. these can be attended consecutively to go deeper into the methodology of Godly Play or as separate, stand alone, days to have an initial taster/introduction.

This will be led by Mary Cooper, retired Godly Play U.K. trainer, who will share some of her experience and expertise.

Do come;

·        to find out more,

·        just to enjoy some Godly Play contemplative story telling,

·        to have a refresher in Godly Play methods,

·        to enrich your own ministry or parenting.

There are no Course fees  for members of St M ary's congregation.  Please bring a packed lunch. Drinks will be provided.
