Eco Church: Repair Café / Cake Appeal
Saturday 18th July 10am - 2pm
Please remember we are hosting our first Repair Café this Saturday, and we would love to see you there. We will be welcoming an array of volunteers, giving their time, expertise and support to make this event possible. We will be welcoming an unknown number of people from the community, coming with items for repair.
We need cake, please, to go with a cup of tea. All donations of cake, scones and biscuits, gratefully received.
The church will be open for drop off, 5 - 6pm on Friday, when we are setting up, and from 8am on the Saturday morning. Many thanks. Marion.
Eco Tip of the Week
Try to make repairing, re-purposing and re-using a way of life. There is a brand-new council initiative which can help with the latter. (we can help with the first.) Held locally, once a month, details on the poster below:

Flowers
Flowers in church this week are in memory of Stephen Pettit, from Margaret and family.

OWLS
A message from Beryl...
Thank you to all OWLS who were able to enjoy a lovely afternoon tea at the Golf Club to celebrate the end of our 4th year. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon with a delicious tea and happy chatter round the table.
A special thank you from me for the lovely flowers to mark my last meeting as leader of the group, they look beautiful.
After the summer break OWLS will meet again on the new day, Monday, 12th October at 12 noon with Emma Doran leading the group.
My best wishes to all of you for a happy summer and thank you for your support over the past 4 years.
Sea Sunday - RNLI
It was wonderful to see so many of you at our special service last Sunday to celebrate Sea Sunday. As a seaside parish, it was very appropriate to hold it on the beach. Thanks to our Choir who had put together a lovely service.
Our collection for the RNLI raised over £120 for this great cause. Thanks to all who donated.
Spirituality and Prayer Course
We are running a Spirituality and Prayer course on Saturdays throughout August looking at the following themes:
Overview of prayer and spirituality: How do we pray and what is prayer
Ignatian Spirituality
Physical/practical prayer
Centering and contemplative prayer
The Examen
Starting on 1st August, the course will run for the five Saturdays in August from 9.30am until 11am. Bacon sandwiches will be provided on arrival. All welcome. If you would like to attend, please sign up using the sheet in the entrance foyer at Church or get in touch.

Giving
On Sunday 12th July, Nigel, Andrew and Jane spoke about 'Giving to support our mission in the community'. Please click here for more information on how you can join our Parish Giving Scheme.
Arts & Eco Fair - 5th September
We are in the planning process for our 3rd Arts and Eco Fair. Why not save the date and join us for an informative and enjoyable event. There are opportunities for new stalls: please contact the parish office for information.

Supporting our Claire
Our fabulous Assistant Curate Claire Lewis will be running the AJ Bell Great North Run in September - the World’s biggest and best half marathon! She is raising money for North East Action for Children Parents and Inclusion (NAPI), a charity of which she is Chair of the Management Committee.
NAPI recognises that the needs of children and their families are diverse and individual. It provides and promotes services and support to children and families, local communities, volunteers and organisations, empowering the social, educational and health needs of all those involved.
If you would like to support Claire via a donation, please click here.
Open Water Challenge
It’s that time of year when a 'not so young' lady's thoughts turn to open water swimming challenges. This year I have decided to swim from where the A1 crosses the Tweed to the lifeboat station in Berwick, a distance of 4 km. I am desperately hoping for a strong current and tide assisted! 🏊♀️🌊Think duck race or Pooh Sticks!!
I am swimming in aid of the Berwick Water Rescue Team and I would welcome any donations, however small. As you know, the RNLI are an amazing organization completely dependent on charity so I like to do my bit….in the hope I won’t need them!
Donations can be made to me directly or to the page here.
Thank you,
Cheryl
