Services: Second Sunday before Advent

  • 8.00am Holy Communion

  • 10.00am Holy Communion

Nigel's Installation as Canon

Nigel will be installed as a Non-Residentiary Canon at Newcastle Cathedral in a service at 4pm on Saturday 6th December. All are welcome to join in this celebration, and it has been suggested that we may be able to arrange a bus for the St Mary's contingent if there are sufficient numbers wanting transport. Please add your name to the list in the vestibule if you would be interested in travelling to the cathedral by bus.

Eco tip of the week

Swap the complacency trap, that we all fall into, for that positive sustainable action that we've thought about, but never quite achieved.

Our new church for children is on Thursdays. Please spread the word.
Our new church for children is on Thursdays. Please spread the word.

Toast Church is a new venture for children aged 4 to 11. It's an afterschool club on Thursdays, consisting of songs, stories, crafts and prayers to give insight into what the Christian faith is all about. Younger children are welcome but parents will need to stay with them whereas older children can be dropped off and picked up. If you would prefer to wait, coffee and biscuits will be available in an area where you can observe your children. If you need any more information, contact clergy on either vicar@stmarysmonkseaton.org.uk or ctfairgrieve.lewis@gmail.com

Church Windows Update

Contributions continue to come in to the fund, which is great news.

Unfortunately grant monies are well below what we’d hoped for which means we face a challenging position.

We’re faced with increasing costs and a much higher than originally estimated scaffolding figure when we do the upper windows. So we definitely need to phase the work, and have to decide our priorities.

The PCC will be discussing the Windows this coming week and will be making decisions about how to proceed. We hope to then start the first phase of work in the next few months.

In the meantime, many thanks for everyone’s generosity and patience.

You can contribute by:

- cheque payable to "St Mary's Monkseaton" or cash (envelopes in church, with Gift Aid slips, into the wall-safe)

- by bank transfer to: Sort Code: 403418, Account: 04502086 Please give your surname as the 'reference'.

Please also email office@stmarysmonkseaton.org.uk if you are able to Gift Aid your donation
