He is Risen indeed, Alleluia!
Easter is a real time for celebration, a time that we remember that Jesus has defeated evil through his return to life from death. It is a time to sing hymns and songs of celebration and one of my favourites is a modern worship song written by Tim Hughes.
"The greatest day in history
Death is beaten, You have rescued me
Sing it out, Jesus is alive
The empty cross, the empty grave
Life eternal, You have won the day
Shout it out, Jesus is alive"
(If you would like to hear the song in full then click the button below):
It's a time when we can reflect on those things in the world and our lives that disturb us, that make us sad and worried, and to know that there is always hope for the future because in God's Kingdom love will win over evil. I often hear the question, 'why does God allow suffering and pain'? My understanding is that God does not create pain and suffering, it is humanity that does that. We are not alone in our pain and suffering however as God walks with us in those dark times and understands what we are going through. Jesus journey to death shows us that he has walked the path of suffering but he defeats it through the love of God raising him from the dead.
Let us celebrate this Easter remembering that the day Jesus rose from the dead was the 'Greatest Day in History' and that there is always hope founded on love. Happy Easter!
