Vocations Sunday
This Sunday (25th April) is Vocations Sunday, where we consider what God might be calling us to, and celebrating various ministries. In the service we will be publicly renewing the authorised lay licenses for those who assist with the distribution of Holy Communion.

There is a dedicated page on our website where you can view the report booklet, plus details of how to attend, and how to stand for election to the PCC. Click on "APCM 2021" at the top of the page. Step Forward Vocations Video
A few curates from the Dioceses of Newcastle and Durham (including Ben) put together a video for the Archbishop of York's young vocations event "Step Forward", which took place in March. The theme this year was Baptism as the source of our Christian vocation. You can watch the video below, and find out more about Step Forward here.
St Mary’s Grounds Redevelopment
Our church grounds are in a poor state of repair and we want to improve them for our congregation, our church hall users and for all those whom we wish to attract to events and services in our buildings. We have a new set of plans, and we are inviting you to have a look, and give us any feedback. The architect will attend our APCM on Sunday 25th April to answer any questions which should be received in advance by Friday 23rd April.
General feedback about the design can be made up until the 7th May.
Installation at Carlisle Cathedral
The Revd Dr Benjamin Carter, a former curate here at St Mary's, will be installed as Canon Warden of Carlisle Cathedral this Sunday 25th April at 3pm. We pray that Benjamin has a happy and fulfilling ministry in his new role at Carlisle and we send love and congratulations to him.
The service can be viewed on the Carlisle Cathedral Facebook page here >

A prayer for Vocations Sunday
Almighty God, I abandon myself into your hands. Do with me whatever you will.
Whatever you may do I thank you. I am ready for all, I accept all.
Let only your will be done in me.
I wish no more than this.
Into your hands I commend my soul. I offer it to you with all the love of my heart.
For I love you Lord and so need to give myself,
surrender myself into your hands without reserve and with boundless confidence
for you are my Father. Amen
