We are now in the period between Ascension and Pentecost, a time of waiting with the
disciples for the revealing of the Holy Spirit. The period has become known as ‘Thy Kingdom
Come’, a time for us to focus on prayer. To mark this, we are holding a 24-hour prayer
session focused on St Mary’s Island. It will begin at 11.30am on Wednesday 24th May from
when there will be a presence on the island until 9.30pm. Following this we will move to St
Mary’s church for continued prayer during the night and then return to the Island at 9.30am on
Thursday morning for until the late afternoon when we will end with time of prayer. This is
an opportunity for us to focus on prayer through various means and resources that will be
available. We will focus on the lighthouse as being a beacon for North Tyneside and with our
prayers sending light into all corners including schools, places of work, hospitals and care
homes, homes and shops and the lives of the people who live and work in the area.
You would be very welcome to join us, and it would help if you would sign up for a session
via the parish office. You will not be asked to step out of your comfort zone, to pray out loud
or lead any prayers, just to be present and offer your prayers in whatever way you are
comfortable.
Please click on the document below for an outline of the times we will be praying on the island.
If you would like to join us, click on the button and let us know when you are coming!
