Hot Chocolate Haven

As we are coming up to exam season, we recognise this can be a tough time for those taking exams. We are therefore opening the Church up for any young people who are currently sitting school exams as a space to 'decompress and relax' with a drink (such as hot chocolate), and a chance to chat about anything but exams! This will be open 4-5pm Monday to Thursday, starting on Monday 27 April, and running until Thursday 28 May. No need to book, no charge, just drop in and relax.

Eco Tip of the Week

May 3rd

When you vote, do you take note of the candidates’ policies on the Environment? You can use this site:

https://whocanivotefor.co.uk/ to see who’s ‘on offer’. This isn’t the only important issue, of course, but worth a look. And when they’re elected, consider writing about environmental issues to your MP at

https://www.theyworkforyou.com/ or your local councillors at https://democracy.northtyneside.gov.uk/ .

Repair Café

Windows update

We finally have a provisional date for the replacement of the ground floor windows (including the circular ones at the east end).

Work will commence - we are told - on June 29th. There is a possibility of it being brought forward a week.

We will soon be starting to plan how to keep church functioning, as it were, during the week. Weekends (and therefore the main services) shouldn’t be affected.

Watch this space for more updates when we have them.

OWLS

Our next meeting on Friday 8th May is fast approaching so please sign up by Sunday 3rd May if you plan to attend.

The speaker at the meeting is Emma Casey who will be talking about her research and book; The Return of the Housewife. We look forward to seeing you on the 8th May. If you are new to St Mary’s and would like to give OWLS a try, we gather together in church at 12noon for a sandwich and cake lunch and you will be most welcome.

If you would like to more information see me in church on a Sunday, message, or call me on 07808 078894.

Gardens

Can you spare an hour to help with the gardens? We will be doing some work on Monday 4th May from 10am. Our team is getting smaller which puts pressure on us….and we’re feeling the strain! You can do as much or as little as you want. We are grateful for any help you can give.

Please let me know if you need me to bring extra tools. Gloves are advisable. (I can provide those too!)

Thank you

Cheryl
