BST
A reminder that British Summer Time begins at 1am on Sunday 29th April; clocks go forward one hour.
Lent Course
Does God speak to us? Our lent course this year will be looking at this very subject. Join us on a Wednesday at 11.15am for food and discussion where we’ll be exploring the ways God has spoken to His people through the bible and continues to speak to us. The course continues every Wednesday until 1st of April.
Holy Week
Following feedback from Holy Week 2025, we are doing things a little differently this year. Journeying from Palm Sunday, we are going to engage with God through Holy Communion using a variety of liturgy and song that moves us back in time from our current place through the church traditions to a closer appreciation of the silence of Gethsemane on Maundy Thursday.
Good Friday will reiterate this journey with the choir leading a service of music and word journeying from Gethsemane to Golgotha followed by a Walk of Witness from Whitley Lodge to St Paul's and ending with quiet reflection and meditation in church followed by an hours silence up to 3pm when we will hear the words 'It is finished'.

Flowers for Easter Sunday
We invite all members of the congregation to bring flowers to dress the cross on Easter morning.
Volunteers
We are looking for some volunteers to help with the following activities over the Easter period:
serving and clearing up after Maundy Thursday meal
donations of pudding for the Maundy Thursday meal
serving and clearing up breakfast after the sunrise service on Easter Sunday
If you can help, please speak to John or Liz.
PCC
PCC met on Wednesday 18 March. Safeguarding was reviewed using the parish dashboard which shows the parish is compliant in all areas currently. Work is needed on GDPR (how we hold people’s
information and photographs) and a way forward using a Church of England Database was discussed.
Health and Safety and risk assessments are making good progress.
The finance report for income and expenditure was reviewed. The treasurer highlighted in the report concerns regarding income and expenditure. This needs to be closely monitored and consideration given to how we raise funds through the year.
A decision to streamline church hall funding was made. The £20 refundable bond has been dropped and the price for hire raised to £25 per hour for parties.
PCC supported the development of a Repair Café in partnership with North Tyneside council.
Whitley Lodge Baptist Church will be without a building due to works taking place at the school through the summer. They will therefore be holding their services in St Mary’s during July and August. They will join us for coffee and then hold their services following.
OWLS
A message from Beryl.
Hello all members, thank you to the eight OWLS who will be reading at the 10am Service on Good Friday, Gethsemane to Golgotha. Please come along to what promises to be a new, to us, service of music and readings, and to support the OWLS group and our excellent choir.
Our usual meeting on the 2nd Friday of the month will not be in church for April 10th, but do come along to the Rendezvous Café from 11am for morning coffee and chat, and maybe a gentle walk if the sun is shining!
We always welcome new members so please come and join us during April. For more information just phone or text me on 07808 078894.

This coming Monday, 30 March, will be the last Toddler Group of this term. We will be back on Monday 20 April and look forward to seeing you all there. Wishing you a wonderful Easter break.
