Toast Church

Toast Church is our weekly children’s service. It runs after school on a Thursday. People are welcome to arrive anytime after 3.30pm for a drink and some toast as we gather after a busy school day. At 4pm we start our service of songs, prayers, story and an activity. Parents can stay if they wish or are welcome to drop off children and pick them up at 4.30pm. The service is designed for under 11’s but all are welcome.
Holiday Club

A massive thank you to everyone who volunteered, prayed and supported our half term holiday club and pancake party.
Forty six children came to learn about Mardi Gras and Shrove Tuesday. They spent the day making hats, masks, beads and noise makers and we performed our very own Mardi Gras parade for their adults and siblings before finishing the day off with lots of expertly prepared pancakes.

Lent Course
Does God speak to us? Our lent course this year will be looking at this very subject. Join us on a Wednesday at 11.15am for food and discussion where we’ll be exploring the ways God has spoken to His people through the bible, and continues to speak to us. The course continues every Wednesday until 1st of April.
Eco Tip of the Week
Take part in a Carbon Fast during Lent. A series of posters have been produced by the Climate Stewards part of the A Roche organisation. Please check out their first poster below, as part of a Lenten initiative encouraging people to reduce their carbon footprint through weekly themed actions. This first one invites us to engage deeply with nature and reflect on our environmental impact.

Eco Church
I would like to give a brief outline of the newly proposed Repair Café which will be taking place at St. Mary's and its upcoming requirements. We would like to run the Repair Café as a quarterly event, with the first one being in the next few months. The local Council (please see last week's newsletter for background details) will be an invaluable start-up asset, being able to supply starter packs, design and printing facilities, publicity, contacts, project management and practical help as needed. All of which helps to make this regular, slightly daunting, community event appear very manageable and an exciting sustainability project.
St. Mary's can be involved with all of the above and we have a head start with many of the practicalities already in place; the ideal community space, appropriate facilities and insurance. As a church we also have the desire to care for God's creation, by reducing waste, carbon and over consumerism. A Repair Café in our local community seems a great way to go.
If you would like to be part of this exciting new project, or just want some information, please contact me, email, marionoakes@hotmail.co.uk or I'll be in church this Sunday. This is the very start of the initiative and there are multiple areas where volunteers are needed. If you have a repair skill that you are willing to share with visitors to the Repair Café, please get in touch. Regular help will be needed; receptionist for registration, disclaimer etc; liaison people/welcomers; refreshment makers and furniture movers. I look forward to hearing from you, or speaking to you, in the very near future.
