Eco Tip for the Week

Be aware where your money is being used. In today’s society, our choice of bank can have a direct impact on where our money is invested and how it is used. Ethical banking gives us a way to make a positive difference in the world, with consideration given to climate change, human rights, and fair trade. Ethical banks invest in companies and projects that promote social and environmental good, such as renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and community development. They exclude investment in industries that have a negative impact on the planet and people.

Thy Kingdom Come

Thy Kingdom Come is a global ecumenical prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray for more people to come to know Jesus. What started in 2016 as an invitation from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York to the Church of England has grown into an international and ecumenical call to prayer.

This year, from Ascension Day to Pentecost, we will be using the 2025 Thy Kingdom Come Novena on the Lord's Prayer as a focus for our worship.

On Saturday 31st May we will combine with Whitley Lodge Baptists in a Walk of Prayer, starting at Whitley Lodge at 10.30am.

Alpha Course

Our Alpha Course is now underway, but all are still welcome to join us for the opportunity to explore some of the 'Big Questions' about life and faith.

Thursday evenings at 7.00pm in St Mary's Monkseaton. Each session will end with a light meal and refreshments.

A Big Thank You

A big thank you from the Diocese, and from St Mary's, to all who contributed to us exceeding the expected Parish Share for 2024.

Christian Aid Fundraising Event. Saturday 17th May 11am – 2pm.

This year Christian Aid are raising funds for the indigenous farming communities in Guatemala. They are being ravaged by the climate crisis and need specialist training on water conservation, fertilisers, and resilient crops, which will go towards helping their whole community.

At the St. Mary’s fundraiser, we will have our traditional soup lunch, quiz and baked goods stall, with the addition of a plant stall and an ‘Outdoors’ themed stall (garden, camping, sports equipment, outdoor toys, outdoor clothing etc.)

Donations for the Baked Goods, Plants and Outdoors stalls are still needed and will be gratefully received for Saturday’s fundraiser.

We hope to see you there for some lunch, retail therapy and fellowship.

Monetary donations to Christian Aid, both cash and cards, can be made on the day, or at any time by visiting our fundraising page.

Mothers' Union

Mothers' Union will meet in church at 2.30pm on Tuesday 20th May.

Eastbourne House Holy Communion

This month's Holy Communion at Eastbourne House will be held at 11.00am on Tuesday 20th May. This will be an extra-special occasion as it will be followed by a celebration of Shirley Teasdale's birthday. All are welcome.
