Works in Church

As mentioned on Sunday, the installation of the cabling for the new projector starts on Wednesday 11th June. Due to the health and safety implications, there will be no unauthorised access to the church during working hours (8am to 5pm) until further notice.

Arrangements are being made for Toddlers, OWLS and Craft Group to continue as normal.

Activities in the church in the evenings and at weekends are not affected.

There are no restrictions on access to the office, kitchen and toilets.

There will be no 10.30am Eucharist on Wednesday 11th or 18th June.

We hope the works will be completed by Friday 20th June but will confirm as the project progresses.

Eco Tip for the Week

To create a thriving ecosystem in our outdoor spaces we need to supply a welcoming environment for beneficial insects. It’s suggested to plant a variety of native plants, avoid pesticides, try companion planting and provide water sources and shelter. Consider building a bug hotel and a log pile with added leaf litter. Provide a water source with a pond, or a shallow dish or bowl of water with pebbles to help insects drink without drowning. A wild patch, with a few weeds, provides a valuable source of nectar, seeds, shelter and nest sites for insects, birds and mammals.

Thank You

Judith Cure would like to thank everyone for their cards, prayers and good wishes.

Sheila Torrance would like to thank all who attended the funeral of her late husband, Norman, and all who sent cards and condolences.

Let all the World in Every Corner Sing

The “Young Notes” will be singing our Communion Anthem for Trinity Sunday / Music Sunday.

They have researched and written programme notes about the piece.

Appeal for DVD Player

Do you have a DVD player you are no longer using? If so, Mary Cooper would be really grateful for one to improve the entertainment options for Martin's ward.

Alpha Course

Our Alpha Course is now underway, but all are still welcome to join us for the opportunity to explore some of the 'Big Questions' about life and faith.

Thursday evenings at 7.00pm in St Mary's Monkseaton. Each session will end with a light meal and refreshments.

Volunteers for Holiday Club

This year's Holiday Club will run from Monday 21st to Friday 25th July and we have already had lots of interest. We are now on the hunt for volunteers to help with catering, welcoming and administration, and running the activities. Speak to Nigel or Claire if you are willing to help.

Shirley Teasdale's Birthday and Eastbourne House Communion

All are welcome for Holy Communion at Eastbourne House on Tuesday 17th June at 11.00am. On this special occasion the service will be followed by a celebration of Shirley Teasdale's 90th birthday.

Parish Lunch to celebrate Claire’s Ordination

On Sunday 29th June, after the 10am service, we will be having one of our amazing Parish Lunches to celebrate Claire being ordained the day before.

There is a Food list in the vestibule, and it would be greatly appreciated if you could add your name to an item of food that you can donate towards the lunch.

Thank you

Toilet Spruce Up

You may have noticed that the toilet cubicles in church are looking a bit shabby.

We intend replacing the radiator in the double cubicle.

However, the area generally could do with redecorating.

If anyone reading the newsletter could help us with this job, the BaRG (Business and Resources Group) would love to hear from you.

Please have a word with Roger Windass, David Tompkins or any of the staff or wardens.
