Toast Church

Toast Church is our weekly children’s service. It runs after school on a Thursday. People are welcome to arrive anytime after 3.30pm for a drink and some toast as we gather after a busy school day. At 4pm we start our service of songs, prayers, story and an activity. Parents can stay if they wish or are welcome to drop off children and pick them up at 4.30pm. The service is designed for under 11’s but all are welcome.

Lent Course
Does God speak to us? Our lent course this year will be looking at this very subject. Join us on a Wednesday at 11.15am for food and discussion where we’ll be exploring the ways God has spoken to His people through the bible, and continues to speak to us. Starting from Ash Wednesday (18th of February) and then every Wednesday until 1st of April.
In Memoriam
The flowers in Church on 15th February are in memory of John Cure from Judith and family.
Eco Tip of the Week
An app on your phone can actually help in making sustainable consumer choices. By scanning the barcode, it gives information on products and foods; there ingredients, nutritional value, additives and high-risk chemical content. It allows an informed choice of what we are ingesting, putting on our skins and releasing into the environment. I've just been introduced to the Yuka app; other apps are probably out there. It not only highlights harmful products, but also gives healthier alternatives. We all need a helping hand with our lifestyle choices and eco concerns.
Eco Church
St. Mary's has been approached to take part in a new and exciting eco project. The Environmental Sustainability part of North Tyneside Council has signed up to The Repair Cafe foundation, which is an international group promoting sustainability in local communities. The council had attended the two Art and Eco Fairs held here at St. Mary's and thought that this might be something we would like to be involved with. The answer was a resounding, yes.
By setting up a Repair Café here at St. Mary's we can actively contribute to a more sustainable society, both within the church and within the wider community. It would prevent the unnecessary throwing away of goods and the wastage of raw materials. We would be gathering together people with practical knowledge and repair expertise, which they are willing to share.
We at St. Mary's, would hold the project, with the invaluable input of guidance, information and practical support from the council and within the Repair Café guidelines. Please give this exciting project some thought and prayer. How can you help? More information to follow next week.

Mothers' Union
On Tuesday 17th February the Mothers' Union will meet in the Rendezvous Café at 10.30 a.m. Collection for overseas work.
Windows
If you’re in church during the week in early March, you may see our window contractors working.
They’ll be measuring and double checking everything on the ground floor, prior to the manufacture of the ground floor windows.
We have an estimated start date of 20th April and lasting for three weeks.
The work to raise money for the windows project continues and we are delighted to announce that we have just been successful in our grant application to Northumbria Historic Churches Trust for £15,000.
