Eco Tip of the Week
Make your kitchen a plastic free zone. The environmental and pollution problems caused by the production, use and disposal of plastics is well known. The health risks associated with ingesting microplastics are slowly becoming better known. Tackle the 'big four' single use items in the kitchen; cling film, plastic food containers, synthetic dish sponges and plastic bags, by swapping them for reusable glass, metal and natural fibre alternatives.
Children in Church
At their last meeting the PCC approved our new mission statement for children in church. This already applies to Toast Church and we hope it will be the foundation of our approach to all of our interactions with children from holiday club through to Sunday services.
Children don’t always remember what happened in church but they do remember
how it made them feel.
Nothing we have to say in the service is more important than the children feeling
safe, loved, included and accepted.
They may wander, they might not engage straight away but if they feel safe and
comfortable and we maintain an accepting and loving presence they will join in
eventually.
Don’t underestimate their understanding of God or the relationship that God already
has with them.
Listen to them and be open to learn from them.
Church isn’t something that is done to you it’s something you are part of.
They are not the future of the church. They are here right now and part of the body of
Christ.
pARTners Exhibition
20th June
St Mary's will be transformed into an art gallery to showcase the work of pARTners which provides art classes for people living with dementia in North Tyneside.
The project brings together artist volunteers to support and tutor members of the classes on a one-to-one basis.
The paintings show the skills, life experiences, concentration, imagination and sheer joy that members bring to their art. Each person is encouraged to develop their own unique creative voice and the exhibition reflects a wide range of techniques, approaches and subjects.
Young Notes

Toast Church
Toast Church is our weekly children’s service. It runs after school on a Thursday. People are welcome to arrive any time after 3.30pm for a drink and some toast as we gather after a busy school day. At 4pm we start our service of songs, prayers, story and an activity. Parents can stay if they wish or are welcome to drop off children and pick them up at 4.30pm. The service is designed for under 11’s but all are welcome.
