Season of Creation
We have a whole series of events (in addition to our Sunday services) which celebrate the Season of Creation, this week and throughout September into October. All are welcome and we hope you can join us.
Saturday 12th September: Join in the Pilgrimage Walk from Blyth to Tynemouth, or part of it, led by Claire. If you are interested in joining please speak to Claire.
Saturday 19th September: Screening of the National Emergency Briefing - a film showing engaging presentations by climate science experts and reactions to what they say by Chris Packham, Jennifer Saunders and members of the public. 10am in Church.
Saturday 26th September: Litter Pick at St Mary's Island at 10am
Saturday 3rd October: Pet Service at 3pm in Church.
Arts & Eco Fair Thank You
Thank you to Marion Oakes and Kate Taylor for organising the fair, and to all those who contributed to making our Arts & Eco Fair such a great success. Also, to all the amazing stall holders and information givers, and all those who came to support it. This is a community event, centred around sustainability and timed for Creationtide, when we focus on our responsibility to God's beautiful creation.
Church in the Pub
Church in the Pub discussions will focus on Creation in September. Please join us at the Kittiwake, Whitley Lodge at 7.30pm on Tuesdays.
Eco Tip of the Week
Don't strive for perfection, just care consistently. It's all those little shifts you make to your lifestyle over time, that count (100 suggestions on the Eco Table in Church).
GNR This Weekend
Our fabulous Assistant Curate Claire Lewis will be running the AJ Bell Great North Run this weekend.
This is the World’s biggest and best half marathon! She is raising money for North East Action for Children Parents and Inclusion (NAPI), a charity of which she is Chair of the Management Committee.
NAPI recognises that the needs of children and their families are diverse and individual. It provides and promotes services and support to children and families, local communities, volunteers and organisations, empowering the social, educational and health needs of all those involved.

Pastoral support
Following the PCC approval of the Pastoral Team Terms of Reference, we are looking to set up a pastoral visiting team to support members of the congregation and parish who require home visits and potentially home communion. This includes visits to nursing homes. The aim is that no one would have more than 3 people to visit on an agreed basis and that each visitor will be supported by a supervisor. Training will be provided and clear boundaries for the role which will not include any physical care, shopping, cleaning or handling money.
If you are interested and think you may be able to support the pastoral care of the parish, speak to Nigel or Claire and we will explain more about the role to you.
All pastoral visitors will need to go through the 'safer recruitment process' and will require an enhanced DBS check.

Red Cross Nepal Appeal
Thank you so much to everyone who donated towards our gift of £411.50 so far to support this Disaster Fund, in response to the Nepal floods emergency.
By donating, you’re not only helping the Red Cross be there for people who are suffering in Nepal, but you’re also helping the teams be ready the moment disaster strikes, wherever it might be in the world.
We are continuing to collect for this appeal throughout Creationtide.
'Bible Lyte'
On Wednesdays our Bible Study group continues in Church after our Holy Communion Service (at 10.30am). The study will start at approx. 11.15am, and will run for an hour. Refreshments will be provided. All are welcome to join at anytime, and we hope to see you there.

Community Fair on Sunday 20th September 1-4pm
A Community Fair is being held at the Whitley Bay Young People's Centre (WBYPC), at the rear of Hillheads Road, Whitley Bay, NE25 8HR, to raise funds for the WBYPC to further help our community.
Includes baked goods, hot & Cold drinks, community sales, children's table and performances by Have a Go Voices - WBYPC Choir, Holly's School of Steel, Saturday Stage School and a Tai Chi demonstration.

The Big School Assembly Sing-along
A special recording for the BBC - The Big School Assembly Sing-along - a joyful recording of the much-loved songs we all remember from school assemblies is being recorded at the Glasshouse International Centre for Music in Gateshead on Wednesday 7th October. Doors open 6:00pm (and close at 6:45pm) - recording starts at 7:00pm.
Age restriction: there is no minimum age for entry, all ages are warmly welcomed, but children aged 17 and under should be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
If you would be interested in being part of the audience for this recording, tickets are free and can be booked directly at the ‘Lost in TV’ website.
