5th Sunday after Trinity, 12th July 2020

Church Open for public worship

Our first Sunday Service in church will take place this weekend, Sunday 12th July. We are limited to 30 people so if you would like to go, and you haven’t already done so, you must either sign up via our website homepage stmarysmonkseaton.org.uk or ring the office beforehand and leave a message on 0191 251 4216. If there are still places available we will add you to the list and let you know.

Don't be shy or polite! There are still spaces for Sunday; if you want to come, sign up!

You can now sign up each week by visiting our website between 12 noon Sunday and 12 noon Saturday. If you find you have forgotten to do this, then please still get in touch and we will fit you in if there are still spaces available.

This has been thought about carefully and there are various protective measures in place to make the building as safe as possible.  On entering church there will be notices displayed with guidance and advice.  Please read and do your best to follow them. We ask that everyone observes social distancing and stays 2 meters apart. Face coverings can be worn along with anything else that makes you feel protected.

You will be able to bring your Planned Giving envelopes to the service.

We had hoped to ‘Live Stream’ this service so more people at home could join in. Unfortunately, due to our broadband speed being inadequate, we are unable to do this.

A recording of the service will be available to view from 12 noon on Sunday. Having put a request for a broadband upgrade into action it is hoped that we will be able to go ahead with the Live Streaming next week. We are really sorry we haven’t been able to coordinate this with our first service.

The church will continue to be open on Wednesdays 10am – 12 noon, for Private Prayer but not on Saturdays. This is to allow for cleaning between church uses.

The office is not accessible in person, but Dot and Carol are still working from home and can be reached via email and phone. If you wish to leave any correspondence then please post it through the north door. Thank you for your patience during these very different times.

Goodbye Sue

Sue Morgan has now stepped down as our organist. Sue and Adrian’s wedding has now been postponed to Friday 4th September. We wish Sue every blessing as she leaves her organist role here at St Mary’s and our love and best wishes are sent to Sue and Adrian as they approach their new wedding date.

A few of us paid Sue a visit on Wednesday...

A Message from Sue

I just wanted to say, a big, big thank you, for such a generous gift.  I don’t know how you’ve had a collection with the church building being closed.  I’m stunned really, and not sure what to say. I’m just so amazed at everyone’s incredible generosity here. It’s been an absolute pleasure to be with you at St Mary’s.  And I’ll have plenty of memories to treasure in the future. I hope it’s not too long before music is heard in the building once again once worship starts.  It’s not a goodbye, as I’m not good at them.  I’ll be visiting from time to time I’m sure. I wish you all well.  And it’s lovely to have worked closely with some of you.Thank you again for the money, the singing this afternoon, and the wine. A very grateful, Sue Morgan

PCC

PCC will meet via Zoom on Monday 13th July at 7.30pm.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Robert Cure and Suzanne Rider who got engaged last Saturday. Best wishes from all at St Mary’s.

100 Club

The 100 Club winners for June are: £50 Hazel McLeod, £30 Pat Redpath, £20 Hazel Howliston.

A Message from Roger about St Mary’s 100 Club 2020/21

We are edging ever closer to our target. Thanks to the 81 parishioners who have rejoined or joined to date. There seem to be a number of regulars who are perhaps having a year out. Could I encourage a touch more support from those who would enjoy anticipating a little excitement each month together with those who have managed to spend less than normal during lockdown?

Last year the 100 Club raised £1295 for church funds which went mainly towards the costs of cleaning the church hall.

For £25 a year you are entered into twelve monthly draws with the chance of winning £50, £30 and £20 or in December £100, £50 or £30.

As we won’t be in church for a little while, Ruth Blake will be unable to use her persuasive charms to encourage membership, but St Mary’s will be most grateful if you will join or re-join the scheme.

All you need to do is transfer £25 using online banking to St Mary’s 100 Club, Sort Code 20-62-09 Account No. 53160653. Alternatively, drop off a cheque made payable to St Mary’s 100 Club or even cash. Please post or deliver either to me at 61 Brierdene Crescent, Whitley Bay, NE26 4AD or to church. (The letter box is in the north door.)

I would appreciate if existing members could send me an email or text confirming payment. If you are a new member, I will need your name and address. A contact email address or phone number would be useful too so that I can confirm receipt and deliver your winnings to your home!

With thanks, Roger Windass rkpwindass@gmail.com 0191 2528048 (home) 07989 973 352 (mob)
