This Week's News
Patronal Festival
On Sunday 5th September we will celebrate the Festival of St Mary, the patron saint of our church. We will have a sung Eucharist as usual, and after we have received Communion we will all go out into our parish, walking together down to the promenade and beach. There we will have our blessing and dismissal before enjoying a picnic or refreshments from one of the cafés there.
It would be lovely to see as many of you as possible to join this celebration. This is a great opportunity to socialise together, extending God's blessing out into our parish, and to show the community that we are here!
Toddler Group returns!
We are excited to be restarting our Toddler Group on Monday 6th September 2021. St Mary's Toddlers is a weekly term-time play group for all babies and children up to 3 years and their parents/guardians. The aim is to be a welcoming community space for children to meet and play together, and for adults to build relationships, share experience, and chat over proper coffee.
Can you help?
With all sorts of things starting up for the children of our parish, can I ask you to consider if you are able to help, even if only occasionally, at:
Toddler Group-- 9:30 til 11am on Mondays: chatting to parents, helping with refreshments, welcoming on the door, or helping activities with the toddlers.
Junior Church-- During part of our 10am Eucharist on Sundays (short to mid term): helping with worship activities for children.
The more offers of help we get, the more we can offer to our young ones (and the less often you will be asked to help!). Please get in touch via email, or sign up in Church. Please speak to me if you have any queries! Thank you so much; your help is vital to keeping these important ministries alive. --Ben.
Hello from Mike and Penny Green
Hello! We are really excited to have been appointed to look after the music at St Mary's and are looking forward to getting to know you all over the coming weeks.
It is particularly exciting that our first service will be the Patronal Festival on 5th September. There is clearly already a talented group of singers and musicians at St Mary's, so we would love to hear from everybody who would like to be part of the music making at the Church, whether or not you have previously been involved.
Please email us at music@stmarysmonkseaton.org.uk with your name, mobile number, voice / instrument, so we can start getting to know who is interested and arrange music and rehearsals.
Flowers in church
The flowers in church this Sunday have been given by Patrick Pratt and family in loving memory of Marina.
Rachel's Installation
Rachel is being installed as Archdeacon of Northumberland on 5th September at 4pm at the Cathedral. We have all been invited to attend and support our former Vicar. Please let the office know if you wish to attend by 23rd August. Clergy/Readers should also let us know if they wish to robe for the occasion.

Roadmap out of Lockdown:
A reminder of our latest Covid Measures (valid from Sunday 25th July 2021)
All government restrictions have ended, but we have been following the latest Church of England advice to ensure that we can continue to worship together safely and with confidence.
Some measures are being relaxed, moving our worship slowly towards the way things were pre-Covid, but some measures are being retained for now. Please do get in touch if you have any queries or concerns.
Measures we are keeping:
The wearing of masks.
The sign-up for the 10am Eucharist (not essential but helps to speed up the arrival process).
Doors open for ventilation.
Hand sanitiser available.
Rows of seats will be well spaced.
Washing and sanitising for the President and Deacon at the Preparation of the Altar and Distribution of Communion.
We will not be sharing the wine at Communion yet.
We will not be having regular refreshments after the 10am Eucharist yet.
The 10am Eucharist will continue to be live streamed.
At the 8am Holy Communion, no changes will be made from current practice.
Elements we are relaxing/introducing at 10am:
Introduction of a traffic-light sticker system: you can choose a red, yellow or green sticker to wear, which will show others immediately how comfortable you are with social interaction.
We will be responsible for our own distancing and seating arrangements. Please be bold in sharing your preferences with others around you. This is particularly important at the Peace, which may be shared physically (with immediate neighbours), with their consent.
We will be able to sing (if masks are worn; just the Eucharist Setting and Offertory Hymn to start off with).
We will come up to the front for Communion.
The Noah's Ark children's corner will be available for little ones.
Increase maximum capacity (though still retaining spaced seating).
Removal of the one-way system (i.e. exit via the Main (West) Door).
