Paul Lamstaes
Born in Paraguay, South America, adopted very young, and raised in the UK, Paul is an incredibly unique musician. Raised by his American mother, his father, originally from France, and growing up with his sister, also adopted, from Brazil, he sees the importance of his cultural background in developing his personality and musicianship to this very day.
Music has seen Paul attend the Royal College of Music, the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and an exchange programme at the Eastman School of Music, New York. During this time, he studied under the guidance of renowned saxophonists Kyle Horch, Naomi Sullivan and Professor Chien-Kwan Lin.
Since March 2020, Paul has been honoured to be a member of the British Army’s Band of the Household Cavalry.
Tianqi Ling
British-born Chinese collaborative pianist Tia Ling has recently completed Master of Performance at the Royal College of Music, under the tutelage of Simon Lepper, Kathron Sturrock, Danny Driver and Roger Vignoles. In 2019, Tia completed her Bachelor of Arts in Newcastle University and studied with David Murray.
In 2018, Tia made her concert debut with the Newcastle University Symphony Orchestra (NUSO) and has also worked as an orchestral pianist with the Orchestra North East and NUSO. She is a member of the Paris Chapters ensemble and has performed in the Embassy of Ireland, premiered commissioned works in the Lussan festival, and will be performing in the Embassy of France in September 2023. Tia is also a member of the Aurum Trio where they have performed in St Mary Abbots Church, Westminster Music library and the Royal College of Music.
Alongside her passion for music education, Tia works as a freelance accompanist, collaborative pianist, music director, and as an administration assistant at Blackheath halls. Tia enjoys discovering contemporary work, especially for the classical saxophone written by living and female composers.
This concert is free for you to enjoy. Donations to St Mary's can be made on the day if you would like to.
