About
Back home in Saltburn-by-the-sea, Sarah enjoys an eclectic freelance career. In addition to teaching the harp privately and at Yarm School, she regularly plays for weddings and other functions.
Sarah's programme opens with Grandjany's glittering Fantaisie on the second movement of Haydn's 53rd Symphony. Pieces by Britten, Hindemith and van Delden explore the rich resonance of the pedal harp, while Watkins' Paraguayan-inspired Fire Dance evokes the ritual dances of South America. The lyrical writing of Debussy, Jones, and folk music both old and new show the more familiar side to the harp, and by way of some well-known tunes, we come to Gliere's rousing Impromptu to round off the concert.
