Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday (from mandatum, ‘commandment’, because of the use of John 13.34) contains a rich complex of themes: humble Christian service expressed through Christ’s washing of his disciples’ feet, the institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper, the perfection of Christ’s loving obedience through the agony in the Garden of Gethsemane.

At this service, anyone who wishes may have their feet washed. We share the Eucharist, and then the church is stripped of furnishings, and we remain with Christ in the garden for the Watch. You can come and go at any time. The Watch continues until midnight.
